Fashion loves a game of doubles – think Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada or Mary-Kate and Ashley – but right now our favourite pairing is certainly the knockout force of Zendaya and Law Roach.
On March 26, Zendaya arrived at Sydney's State Theatre for the Australian premiere of Luca Guadagnino's Challengers, kicking off the global press tour as though it was the start of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments (through a fashion lens, it certainly feels as thrilling). The actress stepped out onto the red carpet wearing a custom Loewe dress with a plunging neckline in a glittering lawn green, which featured the motif of a tennis player mid serve.
Given that Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson was responsible for the film's costumes, it was a natural choice for Zendaya's longtime stylist Law Roach. Zendaya and Roach completed the look with Bulgari earrings and rings – a subtle homage to the beads of sweat from the movie possibly? Maybe just the perfect accessories for a Bulgari ambassador.
Zendaya's Challengers co-stars Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist also stepped out wearing Loewe – though as a global menswear ambassador for the brand, we expect nothing less from O'Connor who was styled by Harry Lambert.
Coming off the back of the Dune press tour, during which period Zendaya stepped out in everything from archival Mugler to Alaïa Couture and Torishéju Dumi, it seems we're in for another round of method dressing. What other tennis motifs do we think the pair will serve? Surely we'll be catching a glimpse of CHANEL's Cruise 2022 collection which was presented in Monaco? Definitely some more custom looks. Perhaps a homage to tennis champions like Serena and Venus Williams or the 2000s looks of Anna Kournikova?
All we know is that together, Zendaya and Law Roach are the perfect duo to deliver this lesson.
