Ewan Mitchell might not have the Iron Throne on HOTD, but he sure has our hearts

Respectfully, I’ve recently found myself thinking long about dragons — and more specifically, who’s riding them. It’s a wild thought I never thought I’d entertain, but here we are. Ewan Mitchell, the dangerously captivating actor behind Aemond Targaryen in House of the Dragon is quickly becoming the ultimate fantasy and, dare I say, the object of our most intense desires.

When he’s not commanding our screens, you’ll find Mitchell taking over our TikTok feeds. Whether it's a fan edit that fuels wild fantasies or an interview where his charisma shines through, both he and his enigmatic character have ensnared the online community’s hearts. It’s not just his ability to deliver such a brooding performance that has us hooked; it’s his undeniable allure that keeps us coming back for more. On the contrary to the menacing roles he embodies, Mitchell’s off-screen presence is refreshingly different, as it turns out, he's just really good at acting, that in real life he's self-described as "a big cuddly teddy bear."

He's an attempted kin-slayer on screen, but on the red (or shall I say green) carpet he's attempted and succeeded at the method dressing. With bleached Targaryen hair and an Autumn/Winter 2024 Alexander McQueen ensemble, complete with serpentine accents, Mitchell's approach is nothing short of a fantasy come to life.

He's the up and coming actor with an online and television presence that is undeniably charming, we can't help but follow the path of Ewan Mitchell. And if you're still unfamiliar with him, let us introduce.

About Ewan Mitchell

Born on March 8th 1997, the Pisces born actor is really, a pretty normal guy. Despite being in one of the biggest TV shows in the world right now, he's someone that really prefers the privacy of his personal life. Extending to online, where he doesn't have any social media accounts, at least on public. Mitchell was born and raised just an hour outside of London in Derby, where he still lives. After graduating high school in 2015, he began his process into the acting world by attending two years at a vocational school, before he was accepted to train at the Central Junior Television Workshop in Nottingham.

What else has he been in?

Besides House of the Dragons, you might have seen Ewan Mitchell in Emerald Fennell's Saltburn as Michael Gavey. The one who eats a Crunchie chocolate like a menace and can solve a sum on the spot – so perhaps he has been type casted to play some rather interesting characters. But his first blockbuster debut was actually in the movie Highlife released in 2018, where he lead a supporting role alongside Robert Pattison and Mia Goth. On TV, Netflix's The Last Kingdom and World on Fire, a BBC war drama were Mitchell's most recent performances before House of the Dragon.

Did you know?

Ewan Mitchell is quite the animal lover. Owning three dogs, he's also a very experienced horse rider. And the proof is in the pudding – if you've seen House of the Dragons, you would be surprised how many scenes, or if not most of Aemond riding a horse are real.

What about his style?

He's a man of clearly many talents, and you can include having a great sense of style one of them. We love when actors get involved on their press tour with method dressing for their red carpets, and Mitchell's outfits have to be one of my favourites. Wearing head-to-toe Alexander McQueen for the first premiere was genius. Skull necklace, velvet burnt orange coat, black jeans that cover his feet and pointed boots. And of course, we can't forget the bleached hair. The level of commitment we weren't expecting, but are absolutely loving. Most looks have comprised of him wearing suits, varying from a moss green leather suit to even a black opened suit with a mesh top underneath. A look that has the TikTok community in quite the chokehold.
