My weeks are currently organised around a countdown to new episodes of House of the Dragon. The Game of Thrones spin-off reawakened many's love for fantasy, but if you've been watching the former show as religiously as myself, you'll have clocked actor Emma D'Arcy, who took up the baton from Milly Alcock to portray an adult Rhaenyra Targaryen. And in all honesty, the non-binary actor may just be the best thing about the show so far.
Given that the Game of Thrones franchise is noted for its capacity to launch actors to cult status, we're not surprised that D'Arcy may soon join those echelons.

D'Arcy is a London native
Where Milly Alcock hails from Sydney, our adult Rhaenyra was born in London. Emma D'Arcy will be celebrating their 32nd birthday later this month on June 27th, which makes them a Cancer (if you're into that sort of thing).
As for schooling, Emma D'Arcy studied Fine Art at the University of Oxford's Ruskin School of Art.

They had never watched Game of Thrones prior to auditioning
In an interview, Emma D'Arcy revealed that they went into the audition without any details about the role, aside from it being in the fantasy realm. “I’m very naive, and the job was untitled," D'Arcy explained. "So I thought it was just another fantasy series." At that point in time, they hadn't even watched Game of Thrones. Although, D'Arcy believes they don't think they would've been able to cope with the pressure of auditions if they had known about the sheer scale of the production at the time.

You may have seen them before
If Emma D'Arcy looks familiar to you, it's because you may have glimpsed them in the adaptation of Graham Swift's book Mothering Sunday. In the film, they play Emma Hobson, an upper class woman who Josh O'Connor's character, Paul Sheringham, is slated to marry.

D'Arcy's red carpet style is one to watch
With stylist Rose Forde in their court, Emma D'Arcy's red carpet style is exciting and fresh. At the Season 1 House of The Dragon premiere in London, the actor wore Acne Studios, Roker shoes and Hirotaka jewellery and prior to that, they donned Marni and Vetements at premieres in Los Angeles and Amsterdam. And this season, they're hitting the red carpet just as hard...
