Birkenstock must sense our desire for non-committal, no-fuss, trans seasonal footwear, because boy! is it delivering this year. So far we've seen Rick Owens edgy iteration on the iconic sandals, then Jil Sander+ and earlier this month, Proenza Schouler. Luckily for us, it looks like this is just the beginning of what will be many cross-pollinations between the German brand and our favourite designers, with the spotlight currently on Birkenstock's latest venture with Stüssy.
Following on from the corduroy Boston-style released last year with Stüssy, the new range will once again centre Birkenstocks signature clog-like sandal. This time around the shoes have been crafted with a premium suede outer-layer and will feature Stüssy's scrawling logo debossed under the sandals buckle strap. In true Birkenstock fashion, the shoe comes with the recognisable anatomically designed footbed, as well as rubber outsoles. From what we've seen so far, the style will be available in three colour ways; dusty pink, bone white and sandy brown. Already, online fans are pledging both their kidneys to the dusty pink iteration. I'm not kidding!
Teasing the new campaign over Instagram, the Stüssy x Birkenstock team-up is set against the backdrop of a nondescript beach. Models come in and out of focus, with the sandals lopped casually on their feet, gym socks poking out in a nod to Birkenstocks norm-core roots.
