As Vivid Sydney returns in 2022, there’s plenty happening across the city to keep you entertained and occupied across the festival. Running from May 27 to June 18, and with so much to see, we’ve compiled a handy guide of the highlights of 2022’s Vivid Sydney performances.
Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House
Taking place from May 27 through to June 18, Vivid LIVE takes over the Opera House transforming the world famous building both inside and out. Featuring more than 70 Australian and international artists, the event is presented across six Opera House venues and across its iconic sails.
The Opera House’s Head of Contemporary Music and LIVE Curator Ben Marshall says the event has been a privilege to put together and reflects the changes Sydney has gone through as a city over the last two years.
“It’s clear that Sydney isn’t the same city it was in 2019, or 2020, or even last year,” explains Marshall. “In 2022, we are all feeling the deep communal need to experience art and live concerts together.
“This year’s Vivid LIVE artists reflect the international scale and ambition of Sydney’s soul. From Paul Kelly’s exclusive residency with Thelma Plum, and the incredible impact of Sampa The Great, to the remarkable event put together by BLESSED.
“It’s an honour to be staging the world premiere of Nils Frahm’s new performance, and Hermitude will finally let rip outside on the harbour.”
Opera House venues for the event include the Northern Boardwalk, Joan Sutherland Theatre, Drama Theatre, Utzon Room and Studio.
