When one thinks of Milan Fashion Week, there is none other that serves more looks than our very own Versace. And better yet, best known for aligning itself with the most iconic faces in the industry - for Spring Summer 2022, Versace's casting had the Internet in a downright spiral and fanatic frenzy.
Opening the show was none other than singer songwriter Dua Lipa, wearing a two piece ensemble with cut outs and safety pins emblematic of Versace (and of course, Liz Hurley) that we remember of the 90s.
What some have already deemed as a revival of old Versace, it seems as though European sex is back along with low slung skirts, silk handkerchief tops all pencilled with print, colour and vulgarity. The collection overall felt young and free. Optimistic, hopeful and playful - skirts were shortened, beauty was big and bold and the men, well, we wouldn't expect anything less than an all loving Italian hunk walking for Versace.
The show was all about colour in transition. Opening the runway with sharp tailoring in black before rolling into burgundy's then seamlessly into bold bursts of neons. The collection was both eccentric and electrifying, with Dua Lipa was not the only name to headline the show.
Donatella brought back 90s supermodel Naomi Campbell who unapologetically stormed the runway along with Lourdes Leon and Emily Ratajkowski. Every outfit staged for the runway was its own Italian summer Creamsicle - closing the show the Italian way with Dua Lipa in a metallic number dipped in fuschia pink.
