If there's one item I am always looking to continuously add to my collection, it's glasses. In my experience, they're one of the few accessories that can truly make or break an outfit – and for good reason. Unless you're sporting some extravagant headwear, your glasses of choice – whether to protect you from the sun, or as a stylish piece of eyewear – are often the first part of a look that catches the eye. And with my sights firmly set on escaping the winter chill and charging towards the spring and summer seasons, I was already on the hunt for a fun, new addition to my eyewear wardrobe to bring me out of the winter funk.
Little did I know that I wouldn't have to search for long to find the perfect companion, and worn by one of my favourite 'it' girls of the moment, no less. Fun, flirty and full of attitude, Iris Law donning the Versace Eyewear Spring Summer 2024 collection is exactly the type of cool I want to embody this season. The new styles first debuted on the runway in Milan as part of the House's ready-to-wear collection (who could forget that iconic checkerboard motif that covered the runway?) and communicate a harmonious synergy between retro and futuristic design principles.
For someone like me who is always looking to marry vintage sensibilities with my modern wardrobe, the collection is essentially a match made in heaven. The new campaign starring Law showcase three unisex sunglass styles that were part of the runway collection, and two optical styles that take inspiration from the Spring Summer 2024 show. No matter how you define your style, there's a silhouette for every type of wearer. From oversized square frames, to a more contoured, rectangular design that really leans into sleek lines, and of course, my personal favourite, the mask-style, wrap-around lenses that will have people turning heads wherever you go. So 90s, right?
True to Versace's DNA, the collection also playfully incorporates strong proportions and sculptural details that bring a vibrancy to the pieces – using colours like dreamy pinks and crisp white to accentuate the iconic Medusa and Greca embellishments that have become synonymous with the House.
A celebration of new energy and fresh personality, the Versace Eyewear Spring Summer 2024 collection is one accessory I definitely won't be spotted without as the weather heats up.
