Booktok lovers, rejoice. Another Colleen Hoover hit is getting the big screen treatment, and this time, Anne Hathaway is on board to lead the cast. Just months after Hoover's long-awaited It Ends With Us hit cinemas, starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, the author's hit novel Verity is headed for adaptation. Here's everything we know so far.
What is Verity about?
If you haven't already devoured the book (you should), allow us to catch you up. Warning: spoiler alerts to follow. The novel follows Lowen Ashleigh, an out-of-luck writer struggling to make ends meet. But all that changes when she meets Jeremy Crawford, the husband of best-selling novelist Verity Crawford, who hires Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful thriller series, that his wife is unable to finish after a suffering from a mysterious accident. In order to finish the work, Lowen moves in with the Crawford family at their lavish estate and, while there, discovers Verity's apparent unfinished manuscript, that contains some very chilling secrets about her family. For the rest of her stay, Lowen must work out if Verity’s writings are twisted works of fiction, or an ominous warning about her life.
Who will star in the Verity adaptation?
The Anne Hathway renaissance continues, with the actor set to star as the titular character. As yet, no other cast members have been announced, but we'll be waiting with baited breath to see who lands the roles of Lowen, Jeremy, and the Crawford children.
Who else is on board?
The film will be lead by director Michael Showalter, who has previously worked with Hathaway on the adaptation of Robinne Lee’s The Idea of You. The script, adapted from Hoover's 2018 novel, will be penned by Nick Antosca.
When will Verity premiere?
With the cast not yet locked in, we'd guess it will be a while before production gets underway. We'll be crossing out fingers for an early 2026 release date.
