Eclectic Italian brand Marni is the latest to be tapped by Veja to add pops of colour to their typically neutral-hued shoes. The sneaker brand announced the collaboration overnight, with two silhouettes on offer in the Veja x Marni range.
The V-10, a low top model, is swathed in scribbled pink and red colours channelling the free-spirited Marni aesthetic and experimental consumer. The motif continues down to the heel, where both Veja and Marni’s logos are written. The second offering of the two – the V-15 high-top sneakers – feature the iconic V-logo on the side panels of the sneaker, with a block-coloured aesthetic in shades of orange, yellow and blue used throughout. Both shoes are functional pieces of wearable art, reinvigorating any plain white sneaker collection.
Marni’s Francesco Risso said the brand had been exploring responsible business models for “quite some time,” looking to collaborate with brands who prioritise integrity in its production processes. At the beginning of 2021, after a conversation between himself and Veja co-founder Sébastien Kopp, it was clear the collaboration would blend the unorthodox designs of Marni with the brand principles of Veja.

Important to Kopp himself was Marni’s design and production practices as they stood at the time of their proposal to collaborate, saying he “loves what they’re standing for” through producing in Italy and there being a traceability of knowing who made your clothes.
The Veja x Marni designs differ from left to right foot in an effort to celebrate originality and evoking a playful sensibility, taking six months to perfect in line with the vision of Kopp. A sustainable brand at heart, both pairs of sneakers are produced with tested and REACH-compliant leathers, while also employing a tanning process that produces less waste. Soles are created using 31 per cent Amazonian rubber, 22 per cent waste and 12 per cent recycled rubber.
