By now, it's no secret that Rick Owens has a knack for weaving its way into the hottest collaborations of the moment. Teaming up with everyone from Converse, to the holy grail of summer footwear, Birkenstocks, and even the one and only Dr. Martens for a winter boot that had us all begging for more. But arguably, one of the brand's most successful, noteworthy and ongoing partnerships has been with coveted sneaker brand, Veja. Now in its fifth iteration, Veja and Rick Owens are giving us one final taste of creative crossover, with the release of FW21.
Signalling the duo's final capsule and the unfortunate end to a fruitful collaboration; FW21 for Veja and Rick Owens is a mix of both hiking and performance silhouettes – which are, of course, 100% vegan. For the drop's performance sneaker, the pair have looked to Veja's highly-successful Marlin sneaker for inspiration; maintaining the ultra minimalist look that both the brands are known for.
As we've come to expect from the pair's commitment to sustainable creation, the sleek upper is made of 100% recycled polyester while the outsole is 65% bio-based, composed of 32% Amazonian rubber and 33% rice waste. The performance sneaker is set to be released in a range of four different colours – Pearl, Black, Carnelian, and Hunter – a true 'choose your own adventure' approach to footwear.

As for the collection's hiking style, the shoe is definitely the chunkier silhouette of the two. Featuring a sturdy midsole made of 40% sugar cane and a vegan leather alternative C.W.L. for the shoe's upper; Veja and Rick Owens have brought in a unique fabrication for FW21, made of 100% cotton and layered with P.U. and ricinus oil. For those among us who prefer variety, the hiking style will be available in three different colourways – Honey, Dust, and Black.
If there's one Veja x Rick Owens release you have to get your hands on, it's undoubtedly FW21. The two designs will be released on two seperate dates; with the hiking shoe already available to purchase on the Rick Owens website, and the performance silhouette expected to drop early next month on December 3.
