There are some markers of spring that are impossible to go unnoticed. Take, for example, the large clouds of pollen as you walk down the street, sneezing and apologising to all close by. Perhaps a more welcome sign comes from Van Cleef & Arpels. On the first of September the luxury French jeweler debuts its Lucky Spring collection – a line of jewellery imbued with spring optimism. The tradition first began in 2021 and this year Van Cleef & Arpels expands the Lucky Spring collection with four new pieces.
As for these newcomers? Van Cleef & Arpels has unveiled two new necklaces and pendants, a between-the-finger floating ring and a new bracelet, each adorned with the auspicious spring motifs.
Taking inspiration from nature, the Lucky Spring collection is both poetic and playful with its recurrent motifs comprising plum blossoms, ladybugs, and lily of the valley blossoms. These symbols serve as a reminder of the regenerative spirit of spring, a time when nature emerges from hibernation, and adorn the wearer as a lucky charm. This is especially true of the ladybug, displayed both static and flight-ready, which has long been associated with Van Cleef & Arpels, surfacing throughout its collections since 1930. Meanwhile, the plum blossoms carries a message of resilience, as the flower uncommonly blooms in winter.
Each of the delicate pendants and charms are realized through the traditional technique of lost-wax casting, while both sides are embellished to ensure the jewellery appears its best from all angles. In terms of materials, they are crafted from rose gold, onyx, lustrous carnelian and white mother-of-pearl, before being polished and fashioned into dainty jewellery.
