Riley Keough — suitably deemed by Sarah Paulson on Twitter as the 'IT of ITS' — is set to star in and executive produce Hulu's new series, Under the Bridge. The series is based on author, Rebecca Godfrey's book of the same name. Godfrey, who died last month at age 54 was executive producing and will still be credited posthumously. Keough will also executive produce Under the Bridge via her production company, Felix Culpa, along with Samir Mehta and Liz Tigelaar.
Although Riley first made her entrance into stardom via her modelling career, she's always felt making film was her truest passion, filming people, making and editing horror films.
"At [age] nine, 10, 11, I was making movies all day, and I had a very practical mindset about it all for a child," Keough said in a recent interview.
This passion didn't stop as she appeared in her first film The Runaways at age 20 and rose to stardom via the A24 hit machine and The Girlfriend Experience, for which she won a golden globe.
What's the plot of Under the Bridge?
Keough will portray Godfrey, a young woman novelist who returns to her hometown of Victoria, BC in 1997 and finds herself immersed in the mysterious case of Virk's murder.
In the book, Godfrey explores the hidden world of seven felonious teenage boys and girls accused of murder, revealing surprising truths about the unsuspecting killer.
In a similar fashion to Joan Didion in Slouching Toward Bethlehem or Truman Capotes In Cold Blood, Godfrey is entrusted by the local teenagers accused of the crime and gains their trust affording her unique access to the story.
