It feels like only yesterday that we were replaying the video of Tyla and Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing, who personally shaped that full-length gown from The Met Gala into an after-party mini, on an endless loop.
One pair of scissors, a mega-pop star sensation, and the head of an atelier can put any feat to the test. Yet let it be known. But even before Tyla had donned the couture sands of Balmain, we've been following her style like a hawk.
The singer was thrust into our collective consciousness with her song 'Water,' which quickly went viral on TikTok — if not for the impossibly catchy tune, then for Tyla's impeccable accompanying dance moves.
Fast forward to October, 2024, and the singer dropped the deluxe edition of her debut self-titled album, blessing us with plenty more musical goodness in the process. Of course, all this success has given us ample time to reflect on the stylish South African star's sartorial choices. With a cogent eye for Y2K stylings and an abiding love for miniskirts, Tyla is an obvious ambassador for Gen Z and the fond of midriff-baring two-pieces.
Whether she's performing on the Victoria's Secret runway in a bejewelled two-piece, or sitting front row at Jacquemus in a daring charcoal gown, Tyla's approach to fashion is one worth keeping an eye on. Below, we've compiled the best of what the star has presented to us on the streets and in front of the lens so far.

She's just like me - we don't play about a flowy top and an itty bitty bottom. And don't act like you didn't see those sneaky red bottom leopard print Louboutins in the background.
