Is ‘The Perfect Couple’ the next ‘Big Little Lies’?

We've been nursing the Big Little Lies wound for a little while. There's not been much talk, but after our sources confirmed a third season is indeed on its way, our hearts have opened like birdsong. In the meantime, what else does Nicole Kidman have on her hands? Another project, it seems. Domestic who-dunnit The Perfect Couple is the Netflix mini-series that's been slated to premiere in September. On the island of Nantucket, a wedding awaits. The body, found on the night before the nuptials, has thrown everything from clandestine peace to disarray. Friends of the family (on either side) will have to take turns pinning the act on a culprit.

Below, in preparation for another deliciously soapy addition to Kidman's performance roster, everything you need to know about the production.

What is The Perfect Couple about?

The Perfect Couple is based on Queen of the Beach Read Elin Hilderbrand’s New York Times bestseller. Nicole Kidman will portray bestselling mystery novelist Greer Garrison Winbury. Her husband with a wandering eye, Tag Winbury will be played by Liev Schrieber. Apart from a classic who-dunnit set against a Classic American coastal landscape, there will be secrets, motives, and murder afoot.

Gluttonous displays of wealth will also prevail, as the audience will peel back secrets and furore that is threaded into the family's legacy. In their estate, aptly named 'Summerland', the Winburys will come head to head to discover if blood is indeed thicker than money.

The family includes an exciting new host of talent, including White Lotus' Meghann Fahy, Dakota Fanning, and Ishaan Khatter. They will play the bride's best friend, sister-in-law and the wildcard guest who gets branded as a lout.

Who is involved in making The Perfect Couple?

Director and executive producer Susanne Bier and Showrunner, Writer and executive producer Jenna Lamia will helm the exciting addition to Netflix. The series will be produced by 21 Laps Entertainment, before debuting on Netflix in September.
