Currently in Australia (Sydney, specifically) things feel rather bleak as we are simultaneously plunged into another COVID-19 related lockdown, while witnessing those across the pond begin to re-emerge from the fog of the pandemic. Instagram is both a depressing and inspirational space at this time. On one hand, seeing those in Europe wake up to the glittering Mediterranean from shuttered windows is a painful reminder that we are huddled over both our computers and heaters for days on end, and a source of inspiration for what could be again provided we make our way out of this mess.
Between dark and aptly satirical memes, couture show coverage, and #WFH hashtags, snippets of visual meditation appear across our screens, a peaceful nod to the fact that life, and nature especially, is still worth it all, and that we too will have the chance to plunge our hot skin into crystal waters and share a drink with friends in the sun once again.
In the meantime, we will stay online, and take refuge in the inspirational Instagram accounts that make it all feel a little closer. Below, we round up some of our favourite accounts for visual encouragement.
