FKA Twigs has had a busy week. Between appearing in court last week to testify about the threat of artificial intelligence (AI), to spending her Monday dripping in lab-grown diamonds at the 2024 Met Gala with Stella McCartney, you'd think she wouldn't have anything left in the tank to give right now.
But you'd be wrong, as the musician and creative multi-hyphenate has been announced as a lead in the upcoming religious horror film The Carpenter's Son alongside Nicolas Cage. For everything we know about the film so far, read on...
What is the film about?
The film is said to take inspiration from the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, an mythic gospel about Jesus’ childhood that dates back to the mid-to-late second century.
According to the film's official synopsis, "The Carpenter’s Son tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt. The son, known only as ‘the Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine."
Who is in the cast?
At this point, we only have reports to indicate that Twigs will be playing the role of 'Mother' and that she will be co-starring with Nicolas Cage, who is set to play the 'Carpenter'. A Quiet Place's Noah Jupe will play the 'Boy' and Swiss actress Souheila Yacoub (who was in the recent Dune: Part Two film) will also be joining the cast.
When will The Carpenter’s Son be released?
Unfortunately, it's too soon to tell on an official release date for The Carpenter’s Son, but production is slated to begin mid-year. We'll be sure to keep you up to date once we know more.
