Artisanal perfumer The Ayu has launched an exclusive collaboration with local Sydney Florist, Poho Flowers in the form of a scented candle titled "Rock Rose", and the creative collision has us dreaming of hedonism.
The timeless collaboration between the brands (literally and figuratively, meaning, this is not a limited edition occasion) is said to follow a "modern-day journey through ancient civilisation, history and wonderment, as the forager sets out on the lands under a warm, radiating and glowing amber of the sun.". Summer is brought to a head with notes of spice, nagarmotha, sandalwood, moss and Peruvian balsam, which are woven together with threads of Indian Jasmine, a scent signifying warmer days, and is recognised as a symbol of love and prosperity.
What is born from "Rock Rose" is a rich, heady and spicy symphony that serves summer on a platter and evokes memories of the balmy nights we once had, and are yet to anticipate. While the scent speaks in waves of indulgence, the packaging itself is paired back and restrained; a black glass vessel with a simple, monochromatic label, working with most spaces.
What is behind the perfumer, is inspired by the study of Vedic scripts. The Ayu was born holding the belief that intention imbues the soul of a scent, and through hand-blended techniques, the brand's scented oils are made with the ancient art of perfume, combined with the knowledge of balancing the mind, body and spirit. With this in mind, it only makes sense to seek collaboration with Potts Point institution and floral masters, Poho. Specializing in contemporary, bespoke arrangements for the brands cult-like following, the collaboration feels only natural, those who have taken a deep breath while walking past the iconic shop front, know.
The candle is available to purchase online at The Ayu and in the Poho Flowers store, now.
