“I danced frightening things.”
Dubbed ‘God of dance’ by captive international audiences, as a performer he was worshipped for his sensual and explosive movement. This year the story of the legendary Russian dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky and his tragic rise and fall from the spotlight has been brought to life by The Australian Ballet company. Under the direction of the Hamburg Ballet’s John Neumeier the story is seen through a series of flashbacks to the star’s final performance in a Swiss Hotel. The Australian Ballet will tour Nijinsky in Adelaide from October 14-19, before it concludes at the Sydney Opera House from November 11-28.
