Whether it's the fleeting beauty of a moment documented through their handycam or the calming ritual of weekly water immersion, a practice perhaps unsurprising for a water sign Pisces– Latina-Australian and Native American model Takoda thrives on experiences that nourish their soul.
Beyond the whirlwind of shoots and modelling gigs, Takoda carves out time for their favourite wellness rituals. Steaming mushroom toasties and a strong black coffee for a quick and energising start in Brunswick, or a soothing cup of Moringa tea in the morning for a gentle ease into the day. But Takoda's story goes deeper than just self-care habits.
Below, we spoke with them about their personal approach to wellness, their off-duty obsessions, and the wisdom they imparts to us.
What’s on thing we should know about you?
I’m Latina-Australian and Native American.
What is your star sign?
Pisces.
How do you start your day?
I generally start my day by listening to 432Hz sound healing music and drinking a hot cup of Moringa.
Where is your favourite café in Melbourne?
Kines, Brunswick (mushroom toastie forever).
What is your go to coffee order?
Batchbrew / black coffee.
What’s your personal style motto?
The only person I’m ever dressing for is myself, comfort and staying authentic to my energy of the day are key, regardless of trends or conventions.
What book are you currently reading?
Patti Smith’s Memoir Just Kids.
What’s a skincare product you can’t live without?
I currently can’t live without Vaseline, so essential during these dryer winter months. I use it on my lips, nose and around my eyes morning and night.
After a day on set, what is your favourite thing to do to unwind?
After a high-energy day I love to cocoon myself and go non-verbal for a bit.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
You can start over at anytime.
What is your current obsession?
I’m currently obsessed with my handycam.
What’s one wellness product/practice you can’t live without?
A wellness practise I can’t ever live without is spending time in a body of water at least once a week (which is harder to do than you think in Melbourne). Whether it’s at the local public pool, a lake, or the ocean, floating in water is a great stress relief, increases mindfulness and improves sleep quality.
Where is your next holiday destination?
My next holiday destination will be to Darwin to visit one of my besties that recently moved there. I’ve never been to the NT, I’m really excited.
If you could share one piece of advice, what would it be?
Better things are on the way, make space for what is meant for you.
