September’s Full Harvest Moon in Pisces will have you feeling especially creative

Our September Full Moon, which falls in Pisces, arrives on 18 September at exactly 12:34pm. This Full Moon is officially the Harvest Moon, as it is the Full Moon that falls closest to the September Equinox - which this year is on 22 September. The September Full Moon is sometimes also called the Corn Moon when it arrives earlier in the month, and in these cases the October Moon would take on the name Harvest Moon. This is because the September Equinox would often represent one of the last moments to harvest crops ahead of the Northern Hemisphere winter months. The Harvest Moon is a reminder to take what you can before the barrenness of the cold weather.

This Full Moon also comes with a slight Lunar Eclipse. Those on North and South American, Western Europe and African timezones will see a gentle darkening of a top section of the Moon as it grazes the Earth's shadow. To amplify further, our Harvest Moon is also a Super Moon, a phenomenon that occurs when the Moon is at one of the closest points to Earth. As such, Super Moons can appear visually larger in the night sky.

What to expect from the Super Harvest Moon in Pisces

Full Moons have a tendency to heighten out emotions and sensitivities. As the energetic peak of the Moon Cycle, when the Moon is full, the intensity of what we feel is increased. It can also be a moment of deep illumination. You could find yourself with sudden brainwaves or creative ideas, or you could see the hidden influences at work all fall into place. Anything or anyone working against you can be exposed. Ultimately, all of the themes of the current lunation will come to a crest. This also makes it the time in which collect on the manifestations planted at the last New Moon.

Since this particular Moon falls in the Water sign of Pisces, you might find this particular moment to be rather raw. Pisces is arguably the most deeply sensitive sign of the zodiac. Not that they are necessarily easily offended and hurt like their Water sign sisters Cancer. It's more than that. Pisces is extremely receptive to the moods of others and they're easily affected by the energy around them. When a room is buoyant, Pisces will feel invigorated and creative. But when they're swarmed by solemn energy, it can send them into a moment of existential introspection. With our Full Moon feeding into this influence, you'll find you that your inner self will be feeling exposed and tender.

Around this time, it will be particularly easy to take other people's problems on board. Particularly if you're already heavy on Water placements in your natal chart.

Whether your friend is venting about work problems, your partner is having family issues or a colleague is dishing on dating drama, it will be hard for you to listen without absorbing the emotional weight of these issues yourself. It will be an energy that would threaten to mentally unseat you, if not for the Earthy, anchoring presence of our Sun in Virgo.

At the same time, a Moon in Pisces is a vibrantly creative placement. Pisces is a sign that loves to colour outside the lines and has a unique way of seeing the world. Pisces Moons encourage us to write, read, draw, paint, sing and more. Anything as a means to express yourself. Be prepared to feel uniquely creative and to have any mental blocks finally break.

How to approach the Super Harvest Moon in Pisces

Ground yourself. When Pisces threatens to whisk you aways, the key to surviving this Full Moon will be to ensure to have an anchor to hold onto.

If we look to the rest of the sky, we can see the Moon squaring off against Jupiter at this time. This will only add to the sensitivities of the moment. Jupiter square Moon can make us interpret our emotions more dramatically. It can cause us to overreact to small inconveniences or alternatively, overly romanticise positive experiences. Coupled with the emotional intensity of Pisces, this Moon could prove to be a mentally overwhelming moment.

Just remember that it is still Virgo season, and there is nothing more comforting to a Virgo than going outside to touch some grass - literally. While your inner self will be threatening to consume you with waves of emotion, the Sun which rules our outer selves will still be very much influenced by Earth. If you feel like you're swimming under the weight of other people's problems, the best thing you can do is get out of the house.

Go for a walk, sit by the ocean, feel some sun on your skin.

Of course, leaning into the creative aspects of this Full Moon can be enlivening. A burst of creative spirit can feel refreshing. But if you feel yourself becoming too heavily impacted by the issues of others, head outside and do something active to rebalance your spirit.
