Founded by Dean and Melanie Flintoft in 2021, Sunset Lover was born from a desire to create an authentically sustainable brand with a zero-plastic policy in both its fibres and packaging. Combine this with the fact that each collection is designed in collaboration with South Australian Museum and Botanic Garden of South Australia and you get a brand that is truly unique.
So how does that actually work? Well, in its debut year, Sunset Lover partnered with CanopyStyle and Pack4Good to ensure transparency and accountability. That means that no ancient or endangered forests are being cleared or compromised.
Print inspiration is then draw from species of global flora and fauna that have played a sacred part in the ecology of our planet. Each garment presents a rich history highlighting the intricate connection that we have to our lands and seas. Wearable pieces of art that carefully preserve the objects or illustrations of the original artist.
It's a brand truly working to make a difference and its new collection, Forest Floor, is no exception. Partnering with the Adelaide Botanic Garden, it explores a deeper connection to our natural world with the hero print Forest Mushrooms. Originally created by Sunset Lover's resident artist Bianca Smith, it combines scientific illustrations from five distinct mushroom species found in Australia’s native forests.
