With the warmer weather greeting us more and more, it's time to reevaluate what it means to be comfortable. Don't get me wrong, comfort is not mutually exclusive with style. The RUSSH team share our love for brands like Deji Studios, Comme Si, Maison Essentiele and lululemon, so there are no surprises to hear we will be stocking up on their summer essentials that will last a lifetime. You may also be looking for some essential comfort pieces for both the indoors and out – or, you could be looking for inspiration for upcoming gifting for someone special. Either way, scroll on to see the sports and lounge pieces we are buying this season.

I’m heavily obsessing over Deiji Studios (what’s new) and their incredible selection of linen pants – like the Folded Wool Pant in Sable Stripe. Truly a dream pair of trousers for me. I was also recently gifted a pair of Kye Intimates’ Recline Pants and don’t think I’ve ever worn something softer. Eying off their Bateau Long Sleeve as well. And speaking of soft, I think running my hand over the Skims display at David Jones has finally tempted me to add one of the Ribbed Cotton-Blend Jersey Tanks to my cart this month.

I’m in the office once a week, and every other day I live in activewear as I work out about five days a week. So, I am all about the summertime comfort clothing. It’s my bread and butter. What’s on my rotation? I’ve completely worn through my most beloved Henne black leggings. And I will be replacing them with these full-length leggings from Lululemon. Because of how often I wear my activewear, I need them to be good quality and Lululemon is the OG. I usually wear my leggings with my Skims tanks and tees, I have quite a collection that I’ve picked up on Depop. I love the fit of them and that I don’t always need to wear a bra if I’m not doing any high intensity exercise.
If I’m just lounging, I always wear my Bonds cotton shorts. I have three pairs in different colours and they’re so comfortable to throw on during the day or to wear to the sauna. But when I want to feel like a luxe lady of leisure, I love the Boody bamboo silk sets. They’re technically pyjamas but they’re so excellent for evenings spent drinking wine and eating pizza over a good film. Finally, I will be stocking up on this seamless underwear I’ve recently discovered. They’re the most comfortable seamless, nude underwear I’ve ever come across, so perfect for any sheer outfits or wearing under leggings - Nakey Underwear, check them out.

I am all for comfort when it comes to exercise (and of course, lounging). I’ve been eyeing off some adidas pieces that work for both lounging fitness purposes (win win) as well as a potential Christmas gift for someone special. This Essentials Crop Tee looks like an everyday option and I need another tank so this one will work perfectly. The aforementioned gift I had in mind was this Basketball Sleeveless Tee and if you’re the special person reading this, no you didn’t.
As far as loungewear, I would love a snuggly robe (even though it’s only getting hotter) and this one from chillé would be lovely. Also some comfy at-home socks. These from CSB will be coming home to me. I also have these flare pants from CSB in grey and love them, so I plan on repurchasing them in the blush colour.
Lastly, Some new pyjamas wouldn’t go astray, and this skims cami sleep set would ensure a comfy summer sleep.

Those that know me, know I am far from sporty and have a real aversion to activewear per say…however, I am quite physical so need practical clothes and due to the physicality am subsequently in need of cosy rest times. I do love to swim always, and need a suit without long sleeves (sun safe beach goth) and is there anything more iconic than a speedo? Black, naturally. I am also in need of some new sports bras (for work, not running, don’t be ridiculous) and have always been a fan of the Calvin Klien ones, they are supportive without being oppressive. I am on a quest for the perfect pyjama, and have been considering these sweet ones from Bedthreads, I imagine myself sleeping like a delicious olive at the bottom of a martini. Alternatively, I could happily sleep in a white silk set, but I know I would spill coffee on it within minutes…

I’ve spent most of my life choosing fashion over comfort and at age 32 I’ve finally realised that I can have both. Who said comfort can’t be chic?
Boxer shorts becoming appropriate to leave the house in has been a revolution to me and I’m continuing my love affair this year with a navy blue pair from Comme Si. Bonds also have some really cute striped pairs that are perfect for the beach over swimmers.
I’m up to this third iteration of this Nike oversized cropped jumper. It’s super soft and I wear it over both activewear and jeans which is my ideal form of loungewear. I live in Melbourne which means summer nights are still cold enough to wear long sleeves and this Skims long sleeve is my splurge piece of the month.
Lastly, pants. I’m not a trackies girl and I don’t even own pyjamas. Drawstrings have also eternally scared me, but now that I wear oversized t-shirts I’ve decided it’s time. These Harris Trapper irving trousers almost fall like jeans which is my ideal, and this COS pair is the perfect light neutral addition to complete my summer wardrobe.

Because I mostly work from home, I live in loungewear, but it’s nice to elevate things slightly to avoid feeling like a slob (also, so I’m not embarrassed if a courier comes by). Like Cass I love Deji Studios, I have this dress that I bought on a trip to Byron earlier in the year and I live in it. My Maison Essentiele Weekender Shirt is a summer staple either over a bikini top, or with trousers to the office. I swear by anything Leset as well, specifically the Margot cotton t-shirt, and this stretchy knitted maxi skirt.

When it comes to activewear I have next to nothing and know even less. Comfort, however, is very much in my wheelhouse. My wardrobe is almost entirely transeasonal—I wear wide-leg pants, Birkenstock clogs and some form of dress shirt most days of the year. Usually, it’s just a men’s dress shirt from the Vinnies suiting section, but this Harris Tapper piece always gets a lot of love.
In summer I favour a drawstring (loves a long lunch, obviously). Recently, I bought these cocoa-coloured trousers from Dissh. They’re great to throw over my togs after a swim, but if money were no object, these silk Balenciaga pyjama pants would be in my cart alongside this perfect shirt by The Row. And while we’re dreaming, this snuggly pair of Jil Sander pants would be ideal to slip into after a long day.

It’s time I got real with myself and realised that I actually spend majority of my life in activewear or loungewear, so it’s about time I invested in pieces that were actually stylish and cool and not just my old clothes from when I was 14 that I don’t want to chuck out. First place to start; my pyjamas; and these silk night shorts are adorable and would make me look and feel infinitely more put together in the morning (and lets be real all day when I WFH…).
I’m getting really into rugby polos and the nostalgia they bring, and instead of pulling out my Year 12 jersey, I’d rather opt for something a bit more chic like this striped sweater. All the colour and fun minus the cringe nickname 18 year old me thought was funny. I’d love to pair this sweater with a sporty silver sneaker moment, and these fit the brief perfectly.
And lastly, as always I need to find the perfect white singlet to take me from lounge to beach to bar, and I feel like this Friends with Frank number could be it for me this summer? I’ll let you know.

I’m very much about loungewear that doesn’t necessarily look like loungewear, like these crepe pants by Venroy, which are comfortable enough to lie on the couch in, but still feel put together enough for a day in the office. My loungewear rotation also wouldn’t be complete without the perfect white T shirt which. My current favourite is this one by St Agni, but I’ve also got my eye on this perfectly oversized style by Harris Tapper. They’re great with jeans and trousers, but also over a pair of bike shorts when en route to pilates or running errands (Lululemon Aligns are my favourite).
As we head into summer, I tend to live in matching sets – the kind that you can throw on post-swim, but just as easily wear to a casual dinner. Last year, I was all about this one from Faithfull (which is currently on sale). This year, I’ve been eyeing off just about everything by Deiji studios – I will probably pull the trigger on something like this very soon.
