A pioneer of the grimy, unwashed aesthetic, her mascara-ringed eyes and perpetually streaked red lips were a defining moment for anyone who grew up on Tumblr reblogging cringingly earnest quotes and listening to Vampire Weekend.
Even as the world moved on from indie sleaze, Sky Ferreira held on if only gently, her personal style retaining a vintage-forward edge. And what a journey her style archive offers! Be it with her unkempt locks that went from monstrously long with ten-inch black regrowth to varying hues of mermaid blue and bubblegum pink, before being razored into a peroxide blonde mullet, then dyed asphalt black. Or in her position as a muse and model to Hedi Slimane. She has a face we can't shake and the perfect voice to accompany it (by the way, when's the new music coming Sky??).
