We find ourselves gathered around the holy church of St Bartholomew in London, for what will unleash itself as quite the medieval fantasy for Simone Rocha's Spring Summer 2022 debut. And no stranger to the hauntingly beautiful and the majestic in all her doll-like creations - this season Simone Rocha took us there once again, this time bringing rituals and rebirth into the sacred and holy space of London's fashion week schedule.
Simone Rocha's signature motifs hit the runway once again, seeing Spring Summer 2022 in sublime layers of tulle, broderie anglaise and the most finest and intricate works in lace. We saw hauntingly doll like faces crowned in pearled jewels and reveled in satin ribbon, bringing back the dear memories and days of communion dresses in the holy ceremony that was, a new wave baptism for the coming season.
As tender, euphoric and sensual the show was, every Simone Rocha look was roughened up to a knife's edge. Vinyl motorcycle jackets, lace up boots and sharply edged out seams were all prevalent - in Simone Rocha's own sacrilegious gothic tailoring. And marching to the soft ambient beat of a church pipe organ, the show transpired ideas of rebirth, rituals and holy ceremony - cloaked in what was to become Simone Rocha's perfect medieval romance story.
Shepherding in the return of in-person show's for London Fashion Week since the pandemic, the collection reaches new heights in creativity and showmanship in all its presentation. Following on with the designers house codes with an influx of volumes, layers and the visual narrative that more is more and less is not better, Simone Rocha's Spring Summer 2022 was just the holy matrimony the post-pandemic fashion world needed.
