The must-have garment of the season. Saint Laurent releases its cult-worthy Spring Summer 21 Hawaiian Shirt available via pre-order.
It was only just a week ago that the Saint Laurent Men’s Spring Summer 21 Project curated by Anthony Vaccarello graced our screens with an epic short film release. Titled No matter how long the night is, the 6-minute clip directed by Nathalie Canguilehem features Saint Laurent muses in leaps, bounds, twists, turns and high-speed power running. The film also swiftly transports viewers over the skies, cities and architectures of Paris, New York and Beijing with an accelerating and invigorating soundtrack by SebAstian. It’s enough to make you feel like you need to run around the block.
The collection itself features many SL signatures and styles with slimline and sleek tailoring, textured applique blazers, leafy bomber jackets, dreamy rope sandals and metallic woven loafers reminiscent of a rock and roll summer (the one I hope to conjure for myself this year).
But alas, the real hero of the show is the blessed colourful unisex short-sleeved flower print shirt that just hits the spot in all the right places. Being a party shirt enthusiast myself, this is a piece that I long for and wish to hold tight on my person and in my wardrobe. Best worn over a classic black string bikini with long jean cut-offs and chunky sandals. Gold chain and rocker shades also necessary while carelessly enjoying long afternoons in the sun.
It’s no secret why this shirt has received cult-worthy status prior to its release. It might have something to do with the slew of high-profile talents having the sheer benefit of showing it off before anyone else. Must be nice.
