Everything we know about ‘Rivals’ season 2

rivals season 2

Our favourite TV show Rivals just got better, with news that the series has been renewed for a second season. The raunchy '80s comedy-drama captured our hearts late this year, as we binged our way through every episode, and all the sex, drama, and scandals in between. So where will season two take us? Everything we know so far, below.

What will Rivals season 2 be about?

Those who have made their way through season one will know that the last episode left on a very gruesome cliffhanger. Tensions were well and truly at boiling point between Rupert Campbell-Black, Declan O'Hara, Lord Badidngton, and Cameron Cook, as they fought for control of the main television network in the Cotswalds area. Hopefully, in season two, we'll see a winner to this hard-fought battle.

Of course, the series borrows its plot from Jilly Cooper's novel by the same name, which was first published back in the '80s. It's not yet known if the new season will follow on from one of Cooper's sequels, or if an original storyline will be written.

Cooper, who is also an executive producer on the series, said, “Nearly 40 years after my novel Rivals was published, I’ve adored seeing the world fall in love with my beloved characters – Rutshire’s finest.

“It has been a fairytale come true working with Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season. I’m orgasmic with excitement and cannot wait for the return of my superhero Rupert Campbell-Black and the rest of the characters in season two."

Who is cast in Rivals season 2?

There's no word yet on an official cast list, but it looks likely that most of the series one actors will return, including Alex Hassell, who plays our favourite anti-hero Rupert Campbell-Black. We're also crossing our fingers that Bella Maclean, who plays Taggie, will also return, so she and Rupert can finally make their romance happen.

When will Rivals season 2 come out?

There's no official release date, but with season two only just confirmed, our guess is that the new episodes will hit our screens in late 2025, or early 2026.
