Another day, another Rick Owens collaboration! This time, it is a continued partnership between Rick Owens X Birkenstock, the collaboration where we get to see original Birkenstock shapes reimagined through a very Owens lens.
For the Spring/Summer 2021 collection, Owens has chosen to reinterpret Birkenstock's Arizona and Rotterdam sandals, alongside the Boston clogs. Classics unite!

“Rick Owens continues to play an important role in our partnerships, his voice being totally unique and more relevant than ever. We are proud to partner with this independent designer on such level,” Birkenstock’s CEO Oliver Reichert shared in a press release.
All of the reimagined silhouettes are rendered in a sleek all-black shade with blacked-out metal hardware. Each shoe is constructed of soft Nappa leather with the signature Birkenstock cork-latex underfoot. For those looking for something a little jazzier, Owens has also added the option of an iridescent foiled leather iteration, available in every style.

The most "Owens" of the entire capsule is undoubtedly the Rotterdam style, combining high-quality leather with polyurethane, all highlighted by newly added black rivets and hardware, the sandal features chunky black buckles and rivets with the rubberised Birkenstock logo stamped across the toe-strap.

Owens seems to have no intention of cooling his jets with his slew of ongoing collaborations this year. So far, we've seen his genius partner with Dr. Martens for an explosively successful collab, he has worked with Champion on reiterating some sportswear classics, alongside Veja, for a fourth collaboration with the sustainable footwear label.
