Rick Owens and Dr. Martens have collaborated once again, releasing a range of new boots following on from the 1460 Bex Boot, Gryphon Sandal and 1461 Bex DS release. For the latest Rick Owens x Dr. Martens collaboration, the duo has designed two styles made for versatility and impact. 

What boots are included in the latest Rick Owens x Dr. Martens collaboration?

The first of the two styles is the 1918 boot, the upper constructed entirely with Hair-On leather, decorated with pearl laces and dull silver hook and eyelet trims. The design contrasts with the Dr. Martens chunky sole, and also has an extended tongue to complete the design. The second offering – the 1460 8-eye Boot – is reworked in a Black Lunar leather, contrasted by white laces and extra-wide eyelets in the typical Rick Owens style – grunge permeating the design. In an original touch, the shoe laces wrap around the ankle, while the Dr. Martens yellow stitching accents the sole, and the design is rounded out by a zip fastening on the side. 

Owens has previously expressed his love of the Dr. Martens brand and how collaborating with the brand is a naturally coming together of two iconic creatives. 

“When I was a teen and becoming physically aware, I saw how a tightly laced ankle leading to a broad, solidly planted foot had a simple, modest, industrial masculinity — almost like a corset between a muscled calf and a sturdy foot that acted as a stoic ballast,” said Owens. “DM’s [Dr. Martens] exemplified this best. I saw them on all the guys flying through the air at the shows I went to then… Fear, Black Flag, The Screamers, Alien Sex Fiend… Dr. Martens became a symbol of a raw and sweaty vitality that I thought I might be able to pull off. And for a minute, I think I did…”
