It's always a bit disappointing when a new beauty product goes viral and, as an Australian, you make the discovery that the brand doesn't ship to our sandy shores.
For the Glossier aficionados, the wait is now over (you can shop the full range in MECCA stores from tomorrow), but for Rhode devotees, there's no end in sight. And until we can get shipping direct from their US website, or they pop up in a local beauty chain store, we'll have to rely on our instincts when it comes to finding dupes available in Australia.
Right now, online beauty gurus are a-buzz with the latest blush offering from Rhode, Hailey Beiber's skincare and now makeup company. While all the blushes have been getting the beauty community's tick of approval, the shade hot on everyone's lips right now (literally and figuratively) is 'Toasted Teddy'.
It's described as a 'bronze terracotta' on the Rhode website, with a dewy, flushed finish. Of course, it's difficult to get an exact match, but we think we've found some that are pretty damn close. Below, find the best Rhode Toasted Teddy alternatives.
1. SAIE Dew Blush in 'Spicy'
Price: $39.60 from Cult Beauty
There has been a lot of comparison made online between Rhode's Pocket Blushes and Saie's Dew Blushes. Rhode's stick blush 'Toasted Teddy' is pretty close to Saie's liquid blush in shade 'Spicy', both offering a similar terracotta-inspired, sunburn-esque shade. For those who prefer a liquid formation, perhaps this is even an improvement.
2. MECCA MAX Off Duty Blush Stick in 'Moody'
Price: $20.00 from MECCA
MECCA Max's ultra-buttery, dewy, blend-able and creamy blush sticks are a great alternative to the Rhode Pocket Blushes and area easy to find at most MECCA stores around the country (and in NZ). They're also a great price point, at $20 a pop. We think shade 'Moody' is closest, but with more fuchsia undertones.
3. M.A.C Glow Play Blush in 'Pinch of Marrakesh'
Price: $56 from M.A.C
M.A.C's shade range has always been pretty much unmatched, so it's no surprise that their Play Blush in 'Pinch of Marrakesh' is pretty damn close to 'Toasted Teddy'. It comes in a compact form, but is still a lightweight and creamy formula that's just as easy to blend with the fingers.
4. WESTMAN ATELIER Baby Cheeks Blush in 'Garconne'
Price: $80.00 from MECCA
Perfect for both cheeks and lips, these versatile and adaptable cream blush sticks from Westman Atelier provide a flattering, natural-looking flush with buildable colour – very similar in formula and packaging to the Rhode Pocket Blushes. They also work behind the scenes to soothe and protect delicate skin – a win for those looking for added skincare benefits.
5. N°1 DE CHANEL Lip and Cheek Balm in 'VITAL BEIGE'
Price: $75 from CHANEL
N°1 DE CHANEL's featherlight, hydrating blush is enriched with the skincare properties of the red camellia flower – perfect for that skincare-first approach to blush that Rhode so perfectly imparts. This 'VITAL BEIGE' hue offers a rich wash of colour and a naturally rosy glow, reminiscent of a day spent in the fresh open air.
6. NYX Buttermelt Bronzer in 'All Butta D Up'
Price: $23.99 from Adore Beauty
Because 'Toasted Teddy' exists in the nebulous region between blush and bronzer with its deep, terracotta hue, there are also a few buttery bronzers to check out for a similar dewy finish. This one by NYX is affordable, and offers a silky-smooth powder finish that promises wear for up to 12 hours.
7. OUTSIDE BEAUTY & SKIN SPF 50+Lip to Cheek Balm
Price: $45 from Outside Beauty & Skin
A personal favourite for that kissed-by-the-Mediterranean-sun look, this lip and cheek tint from Australian actress Maddison Brown's suncare brand Outside Beauty & Skin. With the added bonus of an SPF50+, it's a great beach-bag addition, offering a hint of sunburn colour without any of the skin damage.
8. RMS BEAUTY Lip2Cheek in 'Illusive'
Price: $60 from MECCA
RMS Beauty are pretty famous for their pot-like pigments suitable for lips and cheeks. They're versatile, natural, and blendable cream formulas melt effortlessly into the skin, and we think this tone 'Illusive' is that perfect rust-coloured blush.
9. VICTORIA BECKHAM Cheeky Posh Cream Blush in 'Miniskirt'
Price: $70 from Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham's beauty brand is not to be overlooked. Their bronzing products have gone viral of late, but this berry-cinnamon toned stick blush from Victoria Beckham has our heart. This velvety, botanical-infused cream blush effortlessly blends into the skin, providing a dewy, soft-focus splash of colour.
10. GLOSSIER Cloud Paint in 'Storm'
Price: $37 from MECCA
Glossier's Cloud Paints were some of the OG blushes in the no-makeup makeup space. These highly-pigmented tubes of liquid blush are creamy, dewy and still effortless on the skin. And this shade called 'Storm' offers that deep, ochre shaded reddy-brown.
