Did The Duke of Hastings send your heart racing? Is that scene of him licking a spoon seared into your fantasies? Same. Well, the good news is that after a season's hiatus from Bridgerton, the Regé-Jean Page drought could very well be over. According to rumours inflaming the internet, Simon Basset may be returning to our screens in time for the next season of Bridgerton.
"But", you ask, "didn't he vow he would never reappear?" That's right. In April of 2021, the actor told Variety, following the announcement that he wouldn't be returning to the show, that part of the allure of his role in Bridgerton was in its short-lived nature. “One of the things that is different about this genre is that the audience knows the arc completes,” he said.
But much to our delight, the prodigal hon has changed his mind and is apparently in talks with the showrunners according to The Sun. Sure, it's not the most reliable source but a gal can dream?

Which leads us to the next question: What role would Simon Basset have in the next season? After all, we know that the series mirrors the books by Julia Quinn. Save for the fact that showmakers have pivoted to focus on the relationship between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton rather than Benedict for the upcoming season. Meaning that The Duke and Daphne Bridgerton will likely take a side role in the forthcoming season. Unless Shonda Rhimes has something else in mind entirely? As usual, I guess we're just going to have to wait and see.
