Reformation is (finally) expanding into the world of jewellery, and enlisting the creative mind of Clare Waight Keller to do it. The It-girl favourite retailer has collaborated with the former Chloé and Givenchy designer for their first foray into jewellery, and it’s every bit as covetable as we expected.
Made from recycled 24-karat gold vermeil, recycled 925 sterling silver, and semi-precious stones, the collection is titled ‘Midnight in Paris,’ and features 14 Art Deco-style pieces – plus a selection of party-ready clothes to wear with them.
Of course, Waight Keller was a safe bet to produce a line of jewellery that we instantly want to wear: previously, she was head of accessories under Tom Ford at Gucci, then Chloé, before designing jewellery for Givenchy’s couture line.
“The part for me that was always really sad, was at couture I did a lot of chandelier earrings and big cuff pieces, but it was something that never, ever came through to the light of day,” she said per WWD. “So I thought, ‘You know what? Let me just start to think about that in a daily sort of way — what would a girl want?’ — and invoke that same kind of spirit.”
As for how she chose to partner with Reformation, Waight Keller said, “I liked their angle from a sustainability point of view, trying to do everything in a really, really careful and considered way,” she said.
In keeping with this ethos, black jade features heavily in the capsule jewellery collection. The stone was chosen for its low environmental impact (compared to other mined stones), and was sourced from a factory that had had it in its inventory for several years, as opposed to acquiring anything newly-mined.
The limited-edition capsule was released online and in select Reformation stores today, with prices starting at $295. And, like just about everything the brand creates, these pieces will likely sell out sooner, rather than later.
