Calling all e-boys, girls, and e-non-binary folks! All of your utilitarian dreams are about to come true with Reebok's new collaboration with the historical Masion Margiela.
Set to launch in on September 25, 2020, the brands will release their first collaborative shoe (with additional new styles planned for release in 2021), the Tabi Instapump Fury. The shoe first debuted on the Margiela runway in January 2020, as part of the brands Spring-Summer 2020 Artisanal show in Paris and is said to draw on themes key from the show: "a re-evaluation of the values of bourgeois dressing exercised through the codes that define it."
The Tabi Instapump Fury is available in four varying colourways that range between monochrome black and white styles, and for the colour inclined, yellow and blue options are offered. Launching in a heel (Tabi Instapump Fury Hi) and a flat (Tabi Instapump Fury lo) iteration, the flat is reminiscent of retro styles, while the heel is the first time Reebok has ever produced a heeled version of the original Instapump fury.
The design of the shoe is a play on two of each brand's most iconic styles: Margiela's Tabi and Reebok's Instapump Fury, fusing the two together to create a new dialogue on the age of the cyber-industrial revolution and builds on Margiela’s commentary on the conversation between humanity and technology in the digital era. The shoe features the houses legendary Tabi split-toe - which we've witnessed in many iterations since it's inception in 1989- with Reebok's Instapump mechanism, fusing sportswear and high fashion.
It would appear that partnerships between sportswear brands and luxury fashion houses are the theme of the month as we've witnessed multiple sneaker collaborations this season, furthering the idea of a certain considered functionality that can be seen throughout.
The Tabi Instapump Fury will be available exclusively at the Maison Margiela Crosby Street Concept Store in New York City on September 22, and from September 25 on MaisonMargiela.com and in select Maison Margiela stores.
