There are some things that, in our minds, are inseparable from a day spent at the Australian Open: the summer sun beaming down on Melbourne Park, glasses filled with a zesty lemon spritz, and fierce competition between the world's tennis greats on the courts. But perhaps nothing is quite so synonymous with this prestigious tennis event as style — a fact no one knows better than the official outfitter of this year's event, Ralph Lauren.
In 2025, the label returns for its fifth year dressing all on-court tournament staff – from chair and line umpires, to ballpersons – for Australia’s most iconic tennis tournament, and bringing the brand's signature heritage, elegance, and timelessness to every look. It's fitting, then, that RUSSH joined forces with Ralph Lauren over the weekend, hosting an intimate selection of RUSSH purists, tastemakers, actors, musicians, and models for an evening of tennis-filled festivities. Naturally, the afternoon began at the Ralph Lauren styling suites, where guests — including actress Madeleine Madden, artist Keiynan Lonsdale, and dancer and model Mimi El Ashiry — perused the racks on the hunt for their very own Ralph Lauren persona.
In testament to Ralph Lauren's long-held association with tennis, the pieces on offer were pulled from the archives and newer collections alike, and perfectly curated for the occasion: favouring casual tailoring and of course, just a hint of elevated athleticism.
Preppy pieces were also a favourite on the day, from cable knit sweaters draped over sundresses, to a tie adorned with the famed Polo bear drinking a martini, as styled by RUSSH's executive fashion director, Hannah Cooper.
With their looks squared away, guests then made their way into Ralph Lauren's premium, on-site hospitality suite, where they were transported into the Ralph Lauren universe. Here, champagne flowed and attendees sat down to a three-course dinner, where the long and intimate relationship between tennis and fashion — and that of Ralph Lauren and the Australian Open, more specifically — was the preferred topic of conversation.
Then, it was time for Novak Djokovic and Jiri Lehecka to take to the court, delivering one of the fiercest battles of the tournament so far. No effort was spared as the players vied for a spot in the quarter final, with our guests shielding themselves from the evening humidity with Ralph Lauren-branded fans, and sipping from the chicest navy cups.
As the Australian Open competition reaches fever pitch, there's no better time to perfect your spectator style with Ralph Lauren's chic curation of courtside-ready 'fits.
