1. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
Tarantino’s sophomore film contains all the hallmarks of a crime, drama, thriller masterpiece. Reservoir Dogs centres on a mob boss hiring six criminals to attain a selection of diamonds. Each criminal is given a false name, so none know one another’s true identity, however, once they arrive at the site of the heist, the police arrive with them and thus begins the tale. As Tarantino’s directorial feature debut, it has garnered a cult following and regarded as a classic amongst independent cinema aficionados.

2. Pulp Fiction (1994)
Pulp Fiction is the seminal film in the cinematic career of Tarantino, perhaps the defining number in all the Quentin Tarantino movies. Consisting of four non-liner stories which intertwine throughout the film, they include; two thieves decide to rob a diner while eating inside, two hitmen on the lookout for a stolen sum of money belonging to their boss, an ageing boxer told to lose his next fight, yet accidentally kills his opponent. Intrigued? You aren’t alone. The film received seven Oscar nominations and won Best Original Screenplay, with Uma Thurman and John Travolta even subtly reenacting a scene while presenting at the 2021 Academy Awards.

3. Jackie Brown (1997)
A stewardess earning money by smuggling funds to a Los Angeles crime boss, Jackie Brown (Pam Grier) – the titular character of the film – leads an undulating life. When she is caught by agents, she is offered a release on the condition she helps them bring the crime boss to justice.

4. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
The first of the two Kill Bill films is a story bathed in bloodshed and revenge. After departing the murderous Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, Bride (Uma Thurman) travels to Texas, meets her dream man and marries him while pregnant with his child. However, the wedding rehearsal dinner is crashed by the Deadly Vipers who proceed to kill all in attendance and leave Bride for dead. However, four years later when waking up from a coma and realising what has happened, Bride herself goes on a revenge killing spree, leaving Bill (David Carradine) for last.

5. Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)
In volume two, Bride – whose real name we learn is Beatrix Kiddo – continues her quest to find the remaining three people who ruined her wedding. While on the journey, we learn more about her past and the path taken to become who she is today.

6. Death Proof (2007)
Kurt Russell portrays a former Hollywood stunt actor with misogynistic, abusive tendencies, luring women to his ‘death proof’ car under the guise nothing will happen to them. However, he executes them once the arrive. The situation turns throughout the film when he happens upon three women who are keen on payback for those slain before them.

7. Inglorious Basterds (2009)
With a cast including Brad Pitt and Eli Roth, Inglorious Basterds follows a troop of American-Jewish soldiers known as Basterds on a mission to execute German enemies in Nazi-occupied France. They soon become infamous for their methods and are sought across the country, alongside crossing paths with a young Jewish woman (Melanie Laurent) whose entire family has been murdered at the hands of the Nazi’s, where their mission is slowly disrupted.

8. Django Unchained (2012)
A German dentist (Christopher Waltz) buys a slave by the name of Django (Jamie Foxx), proceeding to ask him help kill three brothers. Actually a bounty hunter, the dentist promises Django his freedom if he successfully carries out the killing. Once free, he now has a favour to ask of the bounty hunter – to help him find his wife who has been sold to a farm owner.

9. The Hateful Eight (2015)
Following along with the bounty hunter theme, we find another bounty hunter protagonist in The Hateful Eight who is on his way to the town of Red Rock while escorting a female prisoner charged with murder. The pair are joined on their journey by another bounty hunter, and future town sheriff attempting to escape the winter blizzard. The conditions force the troop to seek shelter at a stagecoach lodge, already occupied by another group of stagecoach riders.

10. Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood (2019)
The film that won Brad Pitt is only Academy Award thus far and featured Australia’s own Margot Robbie, Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood follows ageing actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) as he navigates the changing face of Hollywood. Alongside his one true friend Cliff Booth (Pitt) they become involved with the Manson family, who have their eye on Dalton’s new neighbour – Sharon Tate (Robbie). One of the key Quentin Tarantino movies not to miss.
