To take in a piece of work by artist Poppy Kural is to be offered a glimpse into a private universe. Strands of metallic thread and natural fibres are braided, looped and tangled together like constellations, perfect in their imperfect placement, each telling a deeply personal story. For her latest exhibition, When We Are Still, Kural focuses on sustainability, in one instance even crafting a piece using recycled and repurposed fabrics from the Ellery studio.
When We Are Still, a collection of Kural's woven installations and 3D sculpture, will be on display at Ellery Gallery, Paddington, from April 12. The exhibition will be on display through May 3, and is available for viewing by appointment or during gallery hours.
