We're in the midst of a sexual revolution. Can you feel it? Seeing a sex therapist is no longer taboo, pleasure and consent are at the heart of our conversations and we've tested enough vibrators to have a preference. The shift has even drifted into our screen time with shows like Sex Education and The Principles of Pleasure on Netflix. And now another is set to land on BBC and Hulu, helmed by RUSSH Faith' cover star Cara Delevingne, no less. It's called Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne and below we bring you all we know about the series.
What is Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne about?
It's all in the title, really. The show was first announced in 2020, although radio silence in the following years had us questioning whether it had ever gotten off the ground. The good news is it has, and the series will follow Cara Delevingne as she "puts her mind and body on the line, opening herself up to experiments and demonstrations in the world’s leading sex research labs, visiting communities who experience gender and sexuality very differently, and voyaging into people’s hearts and homes to share their unique stories".
I think we can all agree that a series like this feels long overdue. Speaking to the BBC, Delevingne said, "As someone who struggled for years to understand my sexual identity, I am so excited to be partnering with Hulu, Naked, BBC Three and Fremantle to be making a series that could change the views of so many people through honest and personal conversations."
"I can only imagine what having a series like this would have meant to the 14-year-old me who struggled to understand feelings that were seen as non-conventional or different," she continued.
Who is involved in the series?
Given that Delevingne has been very vocal in the past about her own experience of sexuality, she makes a natural choice as host. The former model and Only Murders in the Building actor identify as pansexual, co-own sex toy company Lora DiCarlo and although the messaging was muddy, gave us that Dior "Peg the Patriarchy" moment.
Is there a release date?
BBC is behind the series, and Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne will air on Valentine's Day on Hulu.
