PSA: our favourite Australian export, Phoebe Tonkin, is officially engaged! The actress hard-launched the happy news on Instagram, with a series of summer snaps featuring her now-fiancé, Bernard Lagrange.
Leading the holiday throwback photos was a black and white picture of Tonkin perched on Lagrange's lap, kissing besides the water. And while the snap itself is (predictably) impossibly chic, we couldn't take our eyes off the very impressive diamond ring on her finger. Tonkin (and Lagrange) kept things simple when it came to ring design, opting for a solitaire, elongated oval style.

While Tonkin didn't reference the engagement in the caption, she hinted to the new jewellery in another shot, this time with her jewel-encrusted hand resting on Lagrange's cheek while he drove a car. Naturally, the couples' friends were quick to congratulate them on their news, with the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Sarah Ellen, and Alycia Debnam-Carey expressing their joy in the comment section.
This kind of low-key announcement has become the couple's signature, with Lagrange rarely featuring on Tonkin's Instagram feed. It makes sense: Lagrange isn't a public figure, instead working as a salesman at Sothebys for more than a decade. But while the actress has chosen to keep her romance private, professionally, she's been enjoying plenty of success in recent years. After making a name for herself in teen classics like H20: Just Add Water and Vampire Diaries, Tonkin has gone on to star in critically-acclaimed hits like Boy Swallows Universe and Babylon. She's also one of our favourite faces in fashion, whether she's letting her laid-back Australian sensibility shine through in local brands like Matteau or Realisation Par, or sitting pretty in Chanel and Tiffany & Co.
