If you're anything like us, you've counted every minute of every passing day since we last saw the sweet angel that is Paul Mescal on our screens. From the moment we were first introduced to this Irish treasure in Sally Rooney's hit series, Normal People; we've continued to fall into a deep hole of admiration for the actor. I mean, it's virtually impossible not to! While we have latched onto every detail of any project that has his name attached; we're here to add another one to the list. Paul Mescal is set to star in a new psychological drama film, God's Creatures.
Honestly, what a fitting title. The man is truly a gift from God. But I should probably stop with the adoration now and get down to the details. The forthcoming film from production company A24 – who, if you're wondering are the geniuses behind Euphoria – will be set in an Irish fishing village. The story will follow a mother, portrayed by Emily Watson, who lies to protect her son (Mescal). What unfolds throughout the film are the devastating impacts that her choice consequently has on her community, her family and ultimately herself.
Mescal and Watson will join Aisling Franciosi, Declan Conlon, Marion O’Dwyer, and Toni O’Rourke in the cast; while duo Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer will be directing. The screenplay will be written by Shane Crowley; in collaboration with Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly.
Of course, God's Creatures isn't the only project Paul Mescal has on his hands right now. Earlier this year, we know that he landed Down Under to film the highly-anticipated Australian film production of Carmen. He also has recently starred in the short film Drifting; and has been confirmed as part of the cast for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming film, The Lost Daughter.
