When The Simple Life first aired in 2003, it changed reality TV as we knew it. The show followed socialites Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie as they left their glamorous lifestyles behind and lived in rural, working-class environments — with typically hilarious results. Now, for the love all all things early noughties... it's time to don your favourite mini and tell your hairdresser you want to go platinum blonde, as the duo reunite for a new reality TV show. Everything we know about Paris & Nicole: Encore, below.
What is Paris & Nicole: Encore about?
While we'd do pretty much anything to see Paris and Nicole as fast food workers and Walmart employees in 2024, the new show isn't an exact reboot of The Simple Life formula.
Paris & Nicole: Encore is a three-part special that will reunite the heiresses on-screen more than 20 years after The Simple Life began, and centres on the pair staging an opera based on "sanasa," the iconic song they wrote in the original show.
As for the differences between the OG show and the new format, Nicole explained it in her own words in an interview with the New York Times. “I’d say the biggest difference is that when we did The Simple Life, we were signing up to do someone else’s show. And Encore is a show that we created, that we produced, and we just had a lot of fun doing it.”
When does Paris & Nicole: Encore air?
Paris and Nicole: The Encore will premiere edon December 12 via Peacock. Luckily, Aussie fans were able to catch the action shortly after, with the show available to stream on Hayu from 13 December.
If you're hungry for more of the duo, you can also re-watch The Simple Life on 7plus, 10Play and Prime Video.
