Now that we've made it past the notoriously cutthroat second season, Only Murders in the Building is heading our way for round three. Are we surprised? Not in the slightest. The whodunit TV series is in its own league, a combination of its original storytelling and stellar casting – Steve Martin and Martin Short, anyone? For its third season, these two elements are only set to escalate with Paul Rudd back once more alongside Meryl god-damned Streep!
If you've too have been following the goings on inside this death trap Upper West Side apartment building, then continue below for everything to expect from season three of Only Murders in the Building.
Plot
Season two of Only Murders in the Building ended with a cliffhanger – Paul Rudd's character Ben Glenroy dropped dead on stage while performing Oliver's play on Broadway. The finale jumped one year ahead, which leads us to believe the next season will focus on what happened in the lead up to Glenroy's death, setting the scene for Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) to swoop in and solve the murder mystery.
As for Meryl Streep's part in all of this, that's being kept firmly under wraps for now. It seems almost too obvious for her to be involved in the murder, as newcomers almost always are, although we could imagine her character to have a murderous streak.
Cast
Selena Gomez casually dropped the news of Streep's involvement in a video on her TikTok account which captured all three of the lead characters in an apartment with Paul Rudd.

As for the rest of the cast, we're assuming Da'Vine Joy Randolph will return as Detective Williams and we'll see cameos for the other Arconia residents like Nathan Lane's Teddy Dimas, Jackie Hoffman's Uma Keller and Michael Cyril Creighton's cat-obsessed Howard Morris. It's likely Tina Fey will return as their rival podcaster, Cinda Canning. As for Sting, Cara Delevingne and Amy Ryan? We expect their involvement is limited to the earlier seasons.
Is there a release date?
There's currently no confirmed release date for season 3 of Only Murders in the Building, although given that filming is underway we can expect to see the show land on Disney Plus and Hulu this winter.
