Cara Delevingne is a career chameleon. I count myself as one of the many folk who were in shock when she quit modelling in 2016. Since that time, she's earned her on screen stripes, adding titles like Anna Karenina and Life in a Year to her belt. But it's been a hot minute since she released something new. So, just as we were about to launch a fully-fledged petition demanding to see more, news whipped us in the face that Cara would be the latest actor to join the cast of Steve Martin's untrue 'true crime' TV series, Only Murders in the Building.
Of course, for those who are familiar with this specific Upper West Side apartment block, you will know that the first season ended on quite the cliffhanger. So take this announcement as your official confirmation that there will be a second season. It would be brutal for the Only Murders in the Building team to leave us hanging...
What we know is that Cara Delevingne is stepping onboard the TV series to play Alice, "a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the mystery" as reported by Variety. Given everything we've learned from the TV series, we're expecting an eccentric performance to match the nutty-ness of Steve Martin and Martin Short.
For those who need a refresher, the series revolves around three characters, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver, played by Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short, respectively. The trio have little in common with the exception of a fierce love for true crime podcasts. When their building is evacuated and a gruesome death is ruled as suicide, the threesome suspect something is up. Basically, it's a dramatic reimagining of what happens when you descend into the deep spiral of true crime, sound familiar?
How does Cara tie into all of this? We're just going to have to wait and see.
