Proof that Nicola Coughlan is a diamond of the red carpet

Here at RUSSH, there are few things we love more than when the worlds of fashion and culture collide. That’s why every time leading lady Nicola Coughlan steps out in a new ensemble, our hearts practically skip a beat.

We first became acquainted with the Irish actress in Derry Girls, where she played the hilariously misunderstood and sometimes a little off-kilter Clare. Then, Coughlan shifted gears entirely, transporting us to Regency era England with her role as Penelope in Bridgerton. With a smaller role in the first two-seasons of the hit Netflix series, season three saw the spotlight shift onto Coughlan and her co-star, Luke Newton. This meant that, not only were we blessed with plenty of screen time of the sweet duo, but also ample red carpet appearances – and a chance to get acquainted with Coughlan’s sartorial prowess. For the whirlwind press tour, Coughlan leant into method dressing, captivating us with a series of gowns (many with the addition of eccentric accessories) that felt pulled straight from Penelope Bridgerton's wardrobe.

And while the press tour has now sadly ended, Coughlan is still pulling out all the stops when it comes to red carpet appearances. Whether it’s a dramatic Cinderella-style Guarav Gupta gown to the British Fashion Awards, or a slightly more demure Nina Ricci pantsuit for a television appearance, the actress is adept at turning heads on practically every occasion. And with her next project, The Magic Faraway Tree, on the horizon, we're sure there will be plenty more fashionable moments to come.

We're looking back at Nicola Coughlan's best looks yet, below.
