Since Manfred Thierry Mugler's passing in 2022, the world has been bereft of fashion's most fabled visionary.

Mugler typified the exaggerated silhouettes of the 80s, introducing fetishwear, leather, and latex within the fashion cycle. Most famed for his inverse triangular couture structures, his pieces transcend time and trend cycles as tactile pieces of art and architecture; forming much of the early influence for designers like Alexander McQueen and artists like Lady Gaga. And now, a documentary dedicated to his legacy will finally hit our screens.

With a legacy like no other leading up into the current direction under Casey Cadwallader, it's about time we've received the visuals to boot. Inside the Dream: Mugler will take us through the machinery and operations of the Maison over the last 50 years. Premiering ahead of the Paris Fashion Week spring summer 2025 circuit, the feature will be a spectacle of fashion, history, and legacy. In preparation for its drop, we take you through everything you need to know about the upcoming Mugler debut on the big screen. If it's anything like the SS22 film, we're in thoroughly safe hands.

What will Inside the Dream be about?

The hour-long documentary will transpose footage behind the scenes of Cadwallader’s SS24 presentation as well as plunge into the 50-year legacy of the French House. Moments like the Chimère mermaid dress along with Zendaya's arrival in the FW95 “Maschinenmench” suit. The day after the film’s premiere, Cadwallader’s Mugler SS25 Womenswear collection will debut at Paris Fashion Week on September 26th at 2:30PM. We'll be waiting with bated breath.

Who is involved in making the film?

The feature is directed by Matthieu Menu, the same creative force behind Dior’s 2023 fragrance documentary.
