After the dreamy alps-themed Fall Winter 2021 show that Miuccia Prada staged earlier this year, Miu Miu reinstated its penchant for fantasy and desire. Now, for the Fall Winter 21 campaign off the back of those snow-toppepd slopes, Emma Corrin stars as the face of the covetable collection.
Lensed by Steven Meisel in a series of intimate yet direct studio portraits, Corrin represents strength in the individual. Becoming different characters yet entirely themselves, Corrin reinvents themselves in each shot, as they pose in the Fall Winter 2021 collection. Crotchet bonnets that pair with a matching crotchet jacket featuring a shearling collar; slip dresses detailed with crotchet busts. There are quilted satin two-pieces and oversized shearling bombers worm alongside fine wool leggings and lace-up combat boots. It is Aprés-Ski reimagined for the modern character. Chalet Girl brought into the now, where identity has no rules, and exploration is championed.
As Miu Miu furthers its exploration of the power of clothes as a representation of character, it celebrates bravery and boldness as a cornerstone of its DNA. To accompany the print campaign, a series of five short films giving Corrin room to reinvent themselves once more - "as different characters, within different personae." Reads a press release.

Read aloud, Corrin narrates a series of anecdotes, recollections, remembrances - recounting memories, true and imaginary, in their own voice and those of others. It is hard to tell if these are the actors own experiences, or if they are narrating off a script of fantastical moments. Made so personal by Corrin's calm and expressive voice, there is no way to tell. Either way, we are entranced by their energy. Unwavering and direct, their eyes peer down the lens as they read aloud, so convincing, it's like opening a door to their soul.
