A new trailer for HBO Max's new film Let them All Talk starring Meryl Streep has been released, and it appears to be as soothing and witty as you'd expect.
Set for release on Dec. 10, the Steven Soderbergh film follows the story of an accomplished author named Alice Hughes (played by Streep), who takes a trip on a cruise ship to finish her latest manuscript with two old friends she has lost touch with and her nephew. As Hughes is forced to confront her past and the ways she has wronged her friends through her previous work, her nephew begins a romance with a literary agent, all while the five of them are stuck together on a cruise ship, with no way off, and the only way forward is to heal old wounds. Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest, Lucas Hedges and Gemma Chan play alongside Streep as the friends, the nephew, and the nephew's love interest.
The screenplay was penned by Deborah Eisenberg, with production by Gregory Jacobs for Extension 765 and Warner Max, and with executive producers Ken Meyer and Joseph Malloch.
Personally, there is nothing more 'Meryl' than the part of a middle-aged woman with hair piled atop her head looking to rekindle past relationships. In a role that she notoriously champions, we're excited to witness her next bout of undoubted excellence. The last film Streep and Soderbergh worked on together was 'The Laundromat,' which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2019 and debuted on Netflix, with one of her most recent productions being in Ryan Murphy’s The Prom, where we will see her together again with Nicole Kidman, post-Big Little Lies. She will also play a voice role in an upcoming Apple TV Plus animated short film titled, Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth.
