Editor In Chief Jess Blanch sends postcards from Melbourne at United Places

Melbourne, where art and innovation converge, is a city brimming with captivating spaces, vibrant social scenes, and a constant flow of exciting events. With so much on offer, choosing where to stay, eat, and explore can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, RUSSH’s Editor in Chief, Jess Blanch, checked into the United Places in South Yarra. For a mid-week business stay, she called this serene corner of the city home; one of minimalist luxury, rooftop views, and designer interiors. It was a fresh perspective on the city she knows so well, where Melbourne's creative energy mingles near the tranquil Botanic Gardens. Below, Jess Blanch shares postcards from her stay.

Stay...

United Places in South Yarra is super private and discreet but the nearby restaurants bring an energy and vibrancy. I see UP as a great home away from home, allowing an early morning walk in the Tan before coffee meetings at Gilson. Located in South Yarra, it has a residential feel but is a short walk across the park into the heart of the city. The spacious rooms and balconies provide the space needed for meetings with colleagues and the rooms are equipped like an apartment for longer stays with a small but well appointed kitchen. Located directly across from the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens, this boutique hotel offers the perfect balance of nature and urban sophistication. The highlight? Their incredibly comfortable cotton sheets and bed, after a long day walking or driving around, felt like heaven. Situated in the heart of South Yarra, you’re steps away from designer boutiques, acclaimed restaurants, and art galleries. It's also peaceful to be so close to the city, while also not being in the direct centre, and amongst the gardens.

Eat...

I loved the touch of the morning bakery basket delivered to my door and coffee, fruit and yoghurt is brought up after a call to reception. In room dining provides a choice from the restaurants below - Matilda 159, Gilson and The Botanical.

Do...

With only little time, choosing wisely what to do in your spare time is critical. Walking down High Street in Armadale was a great opportunity to take a simple stroll and have a look at all the beautiful boutiques. Anticipating the opening of P.Johnson and Jo Malone London's new boutiques, that later lead us to an indulgent dining experience, where we hosted an event at one of the greats in MelbourneGimlet. Later that night, we went to Regent Theatre for The Australian Ballet’s latest performance, Oscar. A captivating production inspired by the life and works of Oscar Wilde, it offered a perfect close.
