Italian elegance takes on new heights with Mr. Ian Griffiths new collection titled Local Colour for Max Mara Resort 2022.
Marveling in European travel and jet lagged summers, the fashionable island of Ischia played home to Max Mara's Resort 2022 show. Nestled away in the Gulf of Naples, in a quaint villa once owned by Luchino Visconti, Hotel Mezzatorre staged the runway, presenting a collection mapped in the world of travel and voyage, leisure and Italian escapades.
A modern reiteration of Max Mara's signature 101808 coat opened the runway, followed by a troop of impeccably dressed women, celebrating the times of the glamourous and bourgeois. Strapped espadrilles styled with Max Mara camels followed by a mix of ferocious fuchsia pink's; a play in proportion took spotlight with boxy hemlines, gathered waistbands and silhouettes that were both ballooned and slicked completing the Max Mara women for Resort 2022.
Drawing on much of its inspiration from writer and novelist Truman Capote, the collection seeked out to explore worlds of grand pleasure and travel. Inspired by Truman Capote's book "Local Colour" and inclusive of Capote's essay inspired by the island of Ischia; the collection reinstates the modern Max Mara woman into Capote's "Swans", the women of his novels who lead lives of glamour and perfection.
A collection that is one of both complexity and simplicity, Mr. Ian Griffiths Max Mara Resort 2022 truly resounds with all that is Resort and in a lifestyle entrenched in escapism and luxury. Local Colour, Max Mara Resort 2022 collection will be accompanied by a film directed by movie director and granddaughter of Marella Agnelli (one of Capote's swans), Ginevra Elkann which will premiere Thursday 1 July 3pm AEST on maxmara.com.
