Today M.A.C cosmetics announced that they will donate a staggering $10 million (USD) to initiatives helping to support communities affected by COVID-19. Since the global pandemic of coronavirus hit we have seen business across both fashion, beauty and lifestyle do what they can to support. From converting head offices into donation centres. To using their factories and distribution networks to make hand sanitiser in an attempt to combat the shortage.
Their Viva Glam fund was an initiative initially established in 1994 initially to raise funds for HIV/AIDS. The brand has since raised over $500 million (USD) for various local organisations. And seen names such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Ru Paul and Mary J Blige lend their power, weight and voices to the cause.
Where M.A.C cosmetics will spread the donations:
The large donation will go towards various local organisations worldwide. These include, Partners in Health, a global health organisation that restores social justice through equal health care. And Project Angel Food, a Los Angeles based emergency food delivery service. When global businesses utilise local networks and local people on the ground of areas most effected, we see real change and timely results.
