It's that time of the year again! Every quarter, Lyst does some of the heavy lifting for us, ranking fashion's most searched and shopped brands. Sifting through the behaviour of more than nine million shoppers a month, they unveil what's really going down. Lyst's index shows Prada has taken the top spot, surpassing Gucci as searches for the brand continue to rise.
Lyst has made their pick for their Q4 index, slating Prada as the hottest brand in the world with searches up by 37%. The announcement comes after the Fall 2023 menswear season that literally raised the roof. Other highlights from Prada's 2022 include the launch of the brand's first fine jewellery collection, which uses certified recycled gold and sustainable practices. The crowning comes not long after Miuccia Prada announced her exit and the announcement of its new CEO, Andrea Guerra.
Prada also worked with some notable Gen Z faces last year including Charli D’Amelio as the face of Prada Linea Rossa FW22. Hunter Schafer has also been a prominent and favoured collaborator as well as Kendall Jenner.
This quarter showed us that TikTok's influence on the fashion industry is stronger than ever. Their sheer numbers move brands up and down the list like snakes and ladders. Gen Z made its impact, breathing new life into brands like Uggs and Coach. The Y2K love is still going strong, propelling Alaïa and Mugler to breakout status.
Second in Lyst’s index was Gucci, which previously held the number one spot, with fashion fans struck by the news that Alessandro Michele would be leaving the brand after seven years as creative director. Going down the list, Moncler, Miu Miu, Valentino, Bottega Veneta, Loewe, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Saint Laurent all featured in the top 10. We'll be waiting to see how these brands make their mark in 2023
