In the off chance that you weren't aware, 2021 marks the 200th birthday of Louis Vuitton. It's for this reason that the fashion Maison has amped up its offerings this year with a series of celeb designed trunks and its own documentary about Louis Vuitton the man and founder, titled Looking for Louis. Among this extravagant lineup which also includes a triptych painted by American artist Alex Katz and a video game, is the release of its much anticipated debut novel Louis Vuitton, L’audacieux.

Ever the sentimental, Louis Vuitton has commissioned French author Caroline Bongrand to plunge into the origins of the House, beginning with the Maison's founder. For those unfamiliar with his backstory, it will sketch a portrait of the founders early life as he made the fateful journey from his hometown Lons-le-Saunier in Jura to the sparkling capital of Paris at the tender age of 14. The book will document the way he rose through the ranks of packer to trunk maker, ultimately to become the craftsman we recognise today.

Expect a colourful portrait that draws on Vuittons time learning from Monsieur Maréchal - one of Faubourg Saint-Honoré’s most prestigious trunkmakers. Weaved into the book will also be details of his relationship with French Empress Eugénie de Montijo and of course, the rise and rise of his eponymous brand.
